Waldo and Bea

Waldo Fulkerson born September 22, 1905 in Goldsmith Indiana. Died July 3. 1972.  in Graying Michigan. Gladys I. Penna born March 3, 1911.  Died June 25, 1957. Both are buried at Grand Lawn Cemetery in Detroit. Waldo and Gladys had four children.  Betty Lou, Donna Marie, David and Michael. After Gladys' death Waldo dated Bea Penna who was the widow of Fred Penna, Gladys' brother.  After Bea died he married Gladys' sister Bessie.  They were sisters of Cordelia, Hurls Wife.   Everyone got that?

After reading a book written by Ralf Waldo Emerson, Marie thought that would be a good name for someone and named her new baby brother Waldo.  Uncle Waldo hated it.  He and Fred Jr. were babies when Marie was a preteen so she was always babysitting and helping to take care of them. I also remember as a child my brother, sister and I would get all excited whenever Uncle Waldo came over.  you see he always had a pocket full of quarters and always handed them out to us when he came in.  We loved him for that.  now that I look back he was just probably trying to keep us out of his hair.

When Waldo was at his cabin in Atlanta Michigan for the 4th of july holiday, His sister Marie invited him and his family to have dinner with her and her family at there place up north.  After a nice dinner and family time, Waldo was tired and took his family back.  On county road 612 just before getting to Fredric Michigan he suffered a major heart attack, running the car off the road. He was taken to Graying Hospital where he was pronounced dead July 3, 1972
