Cordelia (Dee Dee) Pennawas born January 14, 1903 in Indiana. She died November 12, 1969 in Boulder Colorado. She is buried at Forrest Lawn Cemetery in Michigan Hurl and Cordelia were married in 1923 in Detroit Michigan. Hurl was a police officer for the city of Detroit from October 1, 1926 to Oct 1, 1951 when he retired. Prior to that, his 1917 World War One draft registration shows his occupaion as a tire finisher. He lived at home with his father Fred at the time and helped his father start the Fulkerson Fuel and Oil Company a couple years later before becoming a police officer. After his retirement they bought a little family run grocery store right on Pontiac Lake called Fulkersons Market. It was later sold and renamed Bud's Market. He sold bait and gas to the boaters down at the dock and also butchered his own meat for their customers. After selling the store they moved out west to different locations until settling as apartment managers for Medows Apartments in Boulder Colorado Where Grandma had a stroke and later died. Grandpa moved to Reno Nevada where he later died. All of us (their 19 grandchildren) have many many fond memories of them. |
