| Elizabeth (Betsey) was Benjamin and Poly's younger daughter. Born in Virginia she was just a young girl when the family moved to Ohio in 1814. Her marriage information lists her as "Betsey Ann Fulkerson". Her husband or her don't show up in the 1830 census by name, however both the Galbreath Families and Fulkerson Family (With her brother Hiriam listed as head of household) are there in Hamilton. Since the Census in 1830 doesn't list names or details of additional members of a household, just a numbered count, it's not for sure if she was living with either family just after her marriage. There are female household members of both families with the correct age range so it's quite probable. John died in 1835 and is buried near Betsy's mother Poly at the Old Fairfield Baptist Church Yard Cemetery. In 1840 She's listed as the head of household with two small children. One boy and one girl. Her name appears there as Elizabeth A. Fulkerson. In 1850 she appears again in Fairfield Ohio, also Butler county, with her married name. Still head of household Only spelled Gilbreath. She has a daughter Mary J. and a son named Jerome. He is listed as a Carpenter at age 17 while his sister at 21, helps their mother with the house. In 1860 she is again shown living in Butler county with her 27 year old son Jerome. Mary is not in the household and has either married or passed away. In each of these Census she is living close to her brothers Epperson and Hiram. Jerome Joined the 3rd Infintry Regiment Company F out of Ohio on 15 Jun 1861 and died a year and a half later in battle at Stones River Tennessee. |
